Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G hook or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

NOTE–All rounds are worked from right side.

Flower–Round 1–With A, ch 5 for side edge of small petal, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook for top of petal, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch, leave remaining ch free–first small petal made; * ch 5, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch, leave remaining ch free; repeat from * twice more, join with sl st in first ch left free on first petal; 4 small petals for center of flower.

Round 2–Work 1 large petal behind each small petal and 1 large petal between small petals as follows: –Ch 5, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch, 1 tr in last ch–Iarge petal made; keeping small petals free and on right side, work 1 sc in free ch between next 2 small petals, ch 5, make large petal, 1 sc in same ch as last sc at base of previous petal, * ch 5, make large petal, 1 sc in next free ch between 2 small petals, ch 5, make large petal, 1 sc in same ch as last sc at base of previous petal; repeat from * once, ch 5, make large petal, 1 sc in sl st at beg. of round, ch 5, make large petal; 1 sc in same sl st; 8 large petals with sc between petals.

Round 3–Work 1 large petal behind each petal in round 2 as follows: –* Ch 5, make large petal, keeping first 2 rounds of petals free and on right side, work sl st in sc between next 2 petals; repeat from * 7 times more. Fasten off.

Round 4–From right side, join with sl st in sc at top of any large petal in last round, ch 1, 1 sc in same place, make small petals as follows for remainder of square: – † * Ch 4, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch–1 small petal made *; repeat between *'s once, 1 sc in sc at top of next large petal–2 petals for corner, repeat between *'s once, 1 sc in top of next large petal; repeat from † 3 times more, end last repeat with sl st instead of sc in sc at beg. of round to join; 12 small petals.

Round 5–Work 1 sl st in each of 3 ch at edge of first petal, sc in sc at top of petal, * make 3 petals for corner, sc in top of next petal, make 1 petal, sc in top of next petal, make 1 petal, sc in top of next petal; repeat from * 3 times more, end last repeat with sl st instead of sc in sc at beg. of round; 20 petals.

Round 6–Sl st to top of first petal as before, sc in sc at top of petal, † make 2 petals, sc in top of next petal, make 2 petals, sc in top of next petal, * make 1 petal, sc in top of next petal *; repeat between *'s twice; repeat from † 3 times more, end as for round 5; 28 petals.

Round 7–Sl st to top of first petal, sc in sc at top of petal, make 1 petal, sc in top of next petal, † make 3 petals for corner, sc in top of next petal, * make 1 petal, sc in top of next petal *; repeat between *'s 5 times more; repeat from † twice more, make 3 petals, sc in top of next petal, repeat between *'s 5 times, end as for round 5; 36 petals.

Final Round–Sl st to top of first petal, sc in sc at top of petal, * ch 3, 1 sc in top of next petal *, † ch 3, 3 sc in top of next petal for corner, repeat between *'s 8 times; repeat from † twice more, ch 3, 3 sc in top of next petal, repeat between *'s 6 times, ch 3, sl st in sc at beg. of round–about 8 ins. square. Fasten off.
