Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G hook or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

Multiple of 5 ch sts

With A, ch 38 for lower edge.

Row 1–wrong side–Work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each remaining ch; 36 dc counting turning ch as 1 dc.

Row 2–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first dc, † * draw up loop on hook to measure ½ in., yo and draw through loop on hook, insert hook be¬tween the ½ in. loop and the single strand behind it and work 1 sc over single strand * –knot st made; repeat between *'s once more, skip next 4 dc, 1 sc in next dc–1 knot st loop made; repeat from † 6 times more, working last sc in top of turning ch; 7 knot st loops.

Row 3–Ch 3, turn, * draw up loop on hook to measure ½ in., yo and draw through loop on hook, insert hook between the ½ in. loop and the single strand behind it and work 1 sc as before * , 1 sc in center sc of knot st loop, † repeat between *'s twice, 1 sc in center sc of next knot st loop; repeat from † 5 times more, repeat between *'s once, 1 dc in last sc; 6 knots st loops, plus half loop at each side.

Row 4–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first dc, ch 4, skip first knot st, 1 sc in center sc of first knot st loop, * ch 4, 1 sc in center sc of next knot st loop; repeat from * 4 times more, ch 4, 1 sc in top of turning ch; 7 ch-4 spaces.

Row 5–Ch 3, turn, * 4 dc in ch-4 space, 1 dc in next sc; repeat from * 6 times more; 36 dc counting turning ch as 1 dc.

Repeat last 4 rows until 17 rows–about 8 ins. from beg. Fasten off.
