Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

Multiple of 4 ch sts

With A, ch 37 for lower edge.

Row 1–Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each remaining ch; 36 sc.

Row 2–right side–Ch 4, turn, skip first 3 sc, work 4 dc in next sc, * skip next 3 sc, 4 dc in next sc; repeat from * to within 4 sc of end, ch 1, skip 3 sc, 1 dc in last sc; 8 pats.; plus turning ch and 1 dc.

Row 3–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first dc, 1 sc in ch-1 space, * 1 sc in each of next 32 dc, 2 sc in last space; 36 sc.

Row 4–Ch 6, turn, skip first 2 sc, † * yo, insert hook in next sc, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * 3 times more, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 for eye, ch 3 more; repeat from † to within 2 sc of end, skip next sc, 1 dc in last sc.

Row 5-Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in first dc, * 3 sc in next space, 1 sc in ch-1 eye; repeat from * across, end 3 sc in last space; 36 sc.

Repeat rows 2, 3, 4 and 5 until 21 rows–about 8 ins. from beg. Fasten off.
