Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

With A, ch 34 for lower edge.

Row 1–wrong side–Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each remaining ch; 33 sc.

Row 2–ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc.

Repeat row 2, 3 times more.

Row 6–right side–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 16 sc, work puff st in next st as follows:–Yo, insert hook in next sc, yo and draw up a loop–3 loops on hook, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, * yo, insert hook in same sc, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * twice more, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 to complete puff st; keeping puff st on right side, work 1 sc in each of last 16 sc.

Row 7–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 16 sc, skip ch 1 of puff st, 1 sc in puff st, 1 sc in each of last 16 sc.

Row 8–Ch 1, turn, work 15 sc, 1 puff st in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, 1 puff st in next sc, 15 sc to end.

Row 9–Ch 1, turn, work 15 sc, skip ch 1, 1 sc in puff st, 1 sc in next sc, skip ch 1, 1 sc in next puff st, 15 sc to end.

Row 10–Repeat row 6.

Row 11–Repeat row 7.

Repeat row 2, 6 times.

Row 18–Ch 1, turn, work 8 sc, 1 puff st in next sc, 15 sc, 1 puff st in next sc, 8 sc to end.

Row 19–Ch 1, turn, work 8 sc, skip ch 1, 1 sc in puff st, work 15 sc, skip ch 1, 1 sc in puff st, 8 sc to end.

Row 20–Ch 1, turn, work 7 sc, * 1 puff st in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, 1 puff st in next sc *, work 13 sc, repeat between *'s once, 7 sc to end.

Row 21–Ch 1, turn, work 7 sc, * skip ch 1, 1 sc in puff st, 1 sc in next sc, skip ch 1, 1 sc in puff st *; work 13 sc, repeat between *'s once, 7 sc to end.

Row 22–Repeat row 18.

Row 23–Repeat row 19.

Repeat row 2, 6 times.

Repeat rows 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 once.

Repeat row 2 until 39 rows–about 8 ins. from beg. Fasten off.
