Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

Multiple of 8 ch sts

With A, ch 35 for lower edge.

Row 1–right side–Work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each remaining ch; 33 dc counting turning ch as 1 dc.

Row 2–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each dc, 1 sc in top of turning ch; 33 sc.

Row 3–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 8 sc, work a puff st in next sc as follows: –yo, insert hook in next sc, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops, * yo, draw up a loop in same st, yo and through 2 loops; repeat from * twice more, yo and through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1–puff st made, always keep puff st to right side of work, † 1 sc in each of 7 sc, puff st in next sc; repeat from † across, end 1 sc in each of last 8 sc.

Row 4–Ch 1, turn, work 1 sc in each sc and in each puff st, skipping ch 1 of each puff st; 33 sts.

Row 5–Ch 3, turn, skip first sc, 1 dc in each sc; 33 dc including turning ch.

Row 6–Repeat row 2.

Row 7–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 4 sc, puff st in next sc, * 1 sc in each of 7 sc, puff st in next sc; repeat from * across, end 1 sc in each of last 4 sc.

Row 8–Repeat row 4; 33 sc.

Row 9–Repeat row 5.

Repeat rows 2 to 9 inclusive until 29 rows–about 8 ins. from beg. Fasten off.
