Rows 1 and 3-wrong side-K 3, * p 8, k 3; repeat from * to end.

Row 2-P 1, k 1, p 1; * sl next 2 sts to hook, hold at back, k next 2 sts, k 2 sts from hook, sl next 2 sts to hook, hold at front, k next 2 sts, k 2 sts from hook, p 1 , k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 4-P 1, k 1, p 1, * k 8, p 1, k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 4 rows for pat. until 54 rows-about 8 ins. from beg., end on right side with pat. row 2. Bind off in pat.
