Multiple of 8 plus 2 sts

With size 9 needles, cast on 42 sts.

Rows 1 and 3-wrong side-K 2, * p 6, k 2; repeat from * to end.

Row 2-P 2, * † k 2 tog., do not slip from needle, k the first of these 2 sts again and slip both sts off needle †; repeat between †'s twice, p 2; repeat from * to end.

Row 4-P 2, * k 1; repeat between †'s of row 2 twice, k 1, p 2; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 4 rows for pat. until 50 rows-about 8 ins. from beg., end on right side with pat. row 2. Bind off in pat.
