With size 9 needles, cast on 49 sts.

Rows 1, 3 and 5-wrong side-K 2, * p 5, k 3; repeat from *, end last repeat k 2.

Row 2-K 1, p 1, * sl next 4 sts to hook, hold at back, k next st, sl 3 sts from left end of hook to left needle, with yarn in front of hook k these 3 sts from left needle, k st from hook, p 3; repeat from *, end last repeat p 1, k 1.

Row 4-K 1, p 1, * k 5, p 3; repeat from *, end last repeat p 1, k 1.

Row 6-Same as row 4.

Repeat these 6 rows for pat. until 51 rows-about 8 ins. from beg., end on wrong side with pat. row 3. Bind off in pat.
