Color D (Black) 3 skeins
Color E (Purple) 1 skein
Color F (Blue) 1 skein
Color G (Lt. Pink) 1 skein
Color H (Med. Pink) 1 skein
Color I (Dk. Pink) 1 skein
OR
Wool 4-Ply Worsted (4 oz pull skein)
Color A (Dk. Green) 2 skeins
Color B (Lt. Blue) 4 skeins
Color C (Lt. Green) 2 skeins
Color D (Black) 3 skeins
Color E (Purple) 1 skein
Color F (Blue) 1 skein
Color G (Lt. Pink) 1 skein
Color H (Med. Pink) 1 skein
Color I (Dk. Pink) 1 skein
Knitting Needles: One pair "Boye" Size 8 or 9, one tapestry needle and one yarn darner needle
Gauge: 9 sts to 2 inches; 11 rows to 2 inches
ARGYLE STRIP: Cast on 7 A, 18 B, 7 C.
Note: When changing colors, always bring new color under color to be dropped to prevent a hole.
Work in St St on the 32 sts following Chart, always knitting first and last st on P rows. Work to top of Chart, joining colors as needed. Repeat the 64 rows of Chart 4 times more then repeat Rows 1 through 54. With matching colors bind off. Make 4.
EMBROIDERED STRIP: With D — cast on 32 sts.
Row 1 — Right side: K.
Row 2: K 1, P to last st, K 1. Repeat these 2 rows for same length as Argyle strip. Bind off. Make 3.
EMBROIDERY: Trace design and make a stencil from Chart, cutting out darkened areas. With contrasting color marking pen or chalk, mark design lightly on black strips, starting at lower edge and omitting lower flower and leaf of first design. Repeat complete design 4 times more then repeat design once, omitting upper flower and leaves as indicated. Following Chart for placement of colors, work design in outline st. Sew strips tog, alternating the argyle and embroidered, starting and ending with argyle.
FRINGE: Wind required color around an 8-inch cardboard. Cut at one end. Knot 4 fringes of 4 strands each of matching colors in the A and C strip and 4 fringes of B in center of argyle strip.
Be sure your stitch gauge is correct.
