Cluster Slippers Pattern

Instructions are for small size. Changes for medium and large sizes are in parentheses.

You Need: Columbia-Minerva Yarn, 1 ball.
"Boye" crochet hook size I or size to give gauge.

Gauge: 3 dc = 1", 4 rows = 3"

Beg at toe, ch 4. Join with a sl st to form ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 8 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch-3. (9 dc).

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each of next 6 sts, ch 1 (sole), [yo, insert hook from front to back to front around same dc as last st worked, draw up a lp] 3 times, yo and thru 6 lps, yo and thru rem 2 lps (cluster made), ch 1, in next st work 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc (shell made), ch 1, cluster around same st as shell, ch 1, shell in next st, ch 1, cluster around same st as shell, ch 1, join with sl st to top of ch-3 (3 clusters- 2 shells).

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in each of 5 sts, 2 dc in next st, * [ch 1, work cluster around cluster, ch 1, shell in ch-1 sp of shell] twice, ch 1, cluster around cluster, ch 1, join as before.*

Rnd 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 6 sts; rep between *'s of Rnd 3 to end.

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each of 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in each of 4 sts; rep between *'s of Rnd 3 to end.

Continue in this way to inc 1 st in sole section every rnd until there are 8(10-12) dc in sole sec­tion. Work 0(1-1) rnd even. Join and fasten off. With right side facing you, rejoin yarn in 3rd dc of shell at left-hand side.

Row 1: Ch 3, dc in next dc, dc in ch-1 sp, in top of cluster and next ch-1 sp, dc in next 10(12-14) dc, dc in ch-1 sp, in top of cluster and next ch-1 sp, dc in each of next 2 dc-18(20-22) dc. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Work dc in each dc, dc in top of ch-3. Ch 3, turn. Rep last row 2(4-6) times. Fasten off, leaving an end for sewing. Fold slipper in half lengthwise and overcast last row tog for back seam.

Edging: With right side facing you, join yarn at center back seam, work sc, ch 3, dc in same place with joining, * sk 1 row on top edge, over end of next row work sc, ch 3, dc; rep from * to front, in ch-1 sp of shell work sc, ch 3, dc, in top of center cluster work sc, ch 3, dc. Continue around to correspond. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
