Crochet Instructions:
This pattern is worked in continuous rounds, as a tube. Do not chain turn. Always use the top loop of every st throughout pattern.
Head. Chain 4, sl st to join, using white. (4)
Rounds 1-2: 2 sc in each st around. (8) (16)
Round 3: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in second st, repeat from * around. (24)
Rounds 4-7:1 sc in each st around. (24)
Rounds 8-9: * sc in each of the next 2 sts, skip third st, sc in next st, repeat from * around. (18) (14)
Body.
Round 10: 2 sc in each st around. (28)
Rounds 11-18: 1 sc in each st around. (28)
Rounds 19-21: *1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, skip third st, sc in next st, repeat from * around. (21) (16) (12)
Round 22: Sl st every other st around until body opening is closed; break off and fasten, tucking ends. (6) (3) (2) (0)
Scarf. Using green, ch 30 and turn.
Row 1: 1 sc in each st across; break off and fasten. Tie scarf around snowman's neck.
Hat. Using green, sl st sc into third round of head, 1 sc in each st around. (24)
Rounds 1-2: 1 sc in each st around. (24)
Rounds 3-8: *1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, skip third st, sc in next st, repeat from * around. Ch 10, sl st sc into top of hat, to make hanger. Break off and fasten, tucking end. (18) (14) (11) (8) (6) (5)
Nose. Using orange, sl st sc into center of head (face), 1 sc in each st around 5 times, making small circle. (5)
Round 1: 1 sc in every other st around. Break off and fasten, tucking ends. (3) (2) (0)
Face and Buttons. Embroider now or after spraying. Use black thread and French knots, wrapping knots 6 times. Make 2 for eyes, above and to the sides of carrot nose. Use 5 knots in a curved line for mouth, below nose. Place 3 knots down center of body for buttons.
Shaping Instructions:
See General Instructions for pinning and spraying. Flatten snowman, so that the 2 layers are treated as one. Define point of hat. Nose must stick straight out to front. Arrange scarf ends to a nice drape. Shape hanger up and open. Round out head and body of snowman. Spray and dry.
