Bottle Holder or Pincushion
If you sew a plastic ring on the top of this doll it can be hung on the wall for a pin cushion, or kept in the crib for a bottle prop. It is made in 2 separate pieces back and front. The face ruffle is crocheted to the front piece. Both pieces are joined together with a shell stitch.
Materials
4-ply "main color" knitting yarn (white shown)
4-ply "contrasting color" knitting yarn (blue shown)
3" vinyl thumb sucker or baby bottle doll mask
1 pr. 1 ½” baby hands (one with bottle)
⅜"-wide baby blue picoted satin ribbon
Polyfil
Size H crochet hook
Front Piece
With main color (white) ch 5, join, ch 3, ring is made.
Row1: 11 dc in the ring, join, ch 3.
Row 2: 1 dc in 1st space, 2 dc in each space (24 dc), ch 3.
Row 3: 2 dc in 1st space, *1 dc in next space, 2 dc in next space; repeat from * around; ch 3.
Row 4: 1 dc in the next 2 spaces, *2 dc in next space, 1 dc in next 3 spaces; repeat from * around; ch 3.
Row 5: 1 dc in the next 15 spaces, ch 3, turn.
Rows 6-14: Repeat row 5. Tie off (Fig. 1). Make another piece for the back.
Front Section (Ruffle)
Row 1: On top of the 3rd row of the circle at bottom of face area, pick up the front st of the dc of the 3rd row by inserting your hook under the dc of the 4th row. Sc in this stitch. Repeat all around. Join. Ch 3.
Row 2: 2 dc in next space, 3 dc in each space all around to form the ruffle. Join. Fasten off.
Row 3: With contrasting color (blue) ch 1, sc in each space around, join. Fasten off.
Joining Pieces
Lay the body pieces together. Starting at the bottom right corner (Fig. 2), join them together with a shell stitch (5 dc in each shell). Stop at the bottom left corner. Lightly stuff the body with polyfil. Con¬tinue across the bottom with the shell stitch. Fasten off. With contrasting color, ch 1, sc in each space around, join. Fasten off.
Arms
With main color ch 10, join, ch 3.
Row 1: Dc in each space around, join, ch 3.
Rows 2-5: Repeat row 1, ending where you join.
Row 6: (Ruffle) With contrasting color (blue) ch 3, 2 dc in next space, 3 dc in each space, join. Fasten off.
Run yarn through the bottom of the ruffle. Insert the hand. Tie yarn tightly around the hand. Lightly stuff with polyfil. Sew to the body. Repeat for the other arm. Tack the ruffles to the front of the body.
