Deep Dish Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

deep dish apple pie recipeWhat You Need:

  • 4 tart apples
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch grated lemon rind
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Pie crust

How to Make It:

  1. Slice the apples quite thin and put in a deep baking dish, casserole or deep berry dish.
  2. Season with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and grated rind which improves the flavor of the apples.
  3. If the fruit is very juicy, add flour.
  4. Cover the dish with pie crust rolled ¼ inch thick.
  5. Cut gashes in the crust, press the edges with a fork and bake at 400° F for 1 to 1 ¼ hours or until juice begins to bubble through slits in crust.
