Christmas Cookie Cutouts

What You Need:

1 cup real butter, softened
1¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 cups all purpose flour
1¼ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon almond extract, optional (reduce vanilla to 1 teaspoon if used)
Assorted holiday cookie cutters

How to Make It:

Mix butter and sugar together until very light and creamy. Add egg and extract(s); mix well. Slowly add flour and baking soda. Divide dough into equal parts; wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out dough on waxed paper to about a ¼ to ? inch in thickness; cut into desired shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheets for 7 minutes, or until edges turn slightly golden. Cool and decorate.
