Hat and Mittens: One size fits most 9-12 year ¬olds. Scarf measures approximately 4 ½" x 58".

MODA DEA™ "Lazy Daisy™": Hat: 1 Ball No. 3714 Bubblegum CA; Scarf: 3 Balls No. 3714 Bubblegum CA; Mittens: 2 Balls No. 3714 Bubblegum CA.

TLC® "Amore™": Small amount No. 3752 Hot Pink CB for each item.

Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].

Yarn needle; stitch marker for mittens.

GAUGES: Hat: Rnds 1-4 = 5" across. Scarf: 7 rows = 4". Mitten: Rnds 1- 3 = 2". CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS:

FPdc (Front Post Double Crochet): Yo, insert hook from front to back to front around post of st indicated, yo and draw up a lp, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] twice.

BPdc (Back Post Double Crochet): Yo, insert hook from back to front to back around post of st indicated, yo and draw up a lp, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] twice.

HAT

With CA ch 4; join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1 (Wrong Side): Ch 3, 11 dc in ring; join with a sl st in top of ch-3 - 12 sts.

Rnds 2 and 3: Ch 3, dc in some st as joining, 2 dc in each dc around; join in top of ch- 3 - 48 sts at end of Rnd 3.

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in each dc around; join.

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next 5 dc,2 dc in next dc] 7 times; join - 56 dc.

Rnds 6-13: Ch 3, dc in each dc around; join.

Fasten off. Turn hat right side out.

Brim-Rnd 1 (Right Side): With right side facing, join CB in any st; ch 2, FPdc around next st, * BPdc around next st. FPdc around next st; rep from * around; join in top of ch-2.

Rnds 2 and 3: Ch 2, FPdc around next st, * BPdc around next st, FPdc around next st; rep from * around; join in top of ch-2.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

SCARF

With CA, ch 18.

Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across; turn - 16 sts.

Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each dc across, dc in top of ch-3; turn.

Rep Row 2 until scarf measures about 56". Fasten off ending with a right side row.

Edging: With right side facing, join CB at short end.

Row 1 (Right Side): Ch 2, FPdc around next st, * BPdc around next st, FPdc around next st rep from * across; turn.

Rows 2 and 3: Rep Row 1. Fasten off. Weave in ends. Rep on opposite short end.

MITTENS

Note: Mittens are worked in continuous rnds on wrong side; do not join rnds: mark first st.

Rnd 1 (Wrong Side): With CA, ch 2; 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook - 6 sc.

Rnds 2 and 3: 2 Sc in each sc around - 24 sc at end of Rnd 3.

Rnd 4: Sc in each sc around.

Rep Rnd 4 until 5" from beg.

Thumb Opening-Rnd 1: Sc in first 10 sc, ch 6, skip next 4 sc, sc in next 10 sc.

Rnd 2: Sc in each sc and ch around - 26 sc.

Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around.

Rep Rnd 3 until 1 ¾" above thumb opening. Fasten off.

Thumb-Rnd 1: With wrong side facing, join CA with sc at thumb opening; work 11 more sc around opening - 12 sc.

Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around.

Rep Rnd 2 until thumb measures 1 ¾".

Next Rnd: [Skip next sc, sc in next sc] 6 times - 6 sc.

Last Rnd: [Skip next sc, sc in next sc] 3 times - 3 sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends closing last stitches. Turn mitten right side out.

Cuff-Rnd 1: With right side facing, join CB in any sc ch 3, dc in each sc around; join in top of ch-3 - 26 sts.

Rnds 2-4: Ch 2, FPdc around next st, * BPdc around next st, FPdc around next st; rep from * around; join in top of ch-2. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
