MODA DEA™ ''Cheerio™'', Art. R112 (1.76 ounce/104 yard ball); 4 Balls No. 8731 Pink Sapphire.

Crochet Hooks: 6mm [US J-10] and 6.5mm [US K-10.5].

Yarn needle.

GAUGE: 2 ch-5 lps = 3"; 6 rnds = 3" in pat with larger hook. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

PONCHO: With larger hook, ch 77; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring, being careful that ch is not twisted.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same ch as joining, * ch 5, skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 5, skip next 3 ch **, sc in next ch; rep from * around, end at **; join with a sl st in first sc - 22 ch-5 lps.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, * sc in sc, ch 5, skip ch-5 lp; rep from * around; join.

Rnd 3: Sl st in first 3 ch of ch-5 lp, ch 1, * sc around both of the ch-5 lps of the last 2 rnds, ch 5, sc in next sc, ch 5; rep from * around; join - 44 ch-5 lps.

Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 2.

Rnd 5: Sl st in first 3 ch of ch-5 lp, ch 1, * sc around both of the ch-5 lps from the last 2 rnds, ch 5; rep from * around; join.

Rep Rnds 4 and 5 until approximately 13" from beg (garment may lengthen a bit when worn), end by working Rnd 5, do not fasten off at end of last rnd.

Lower Edging: Ch 1, * (sc, ch 3, sc) all in sc, 4 sc in ch-5 lp; rep from * around; join. Fasten off.

NECK EDGING-Rnd 1: With right side facing and smaller hook, attach yarn at neck edge; ch 1, work 78 sc evenly spaced around neck; join in first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

ROSE: Make a loop over your fingers with the yarn, leaving a few inches hanging.

Rnd 1: Insert smaller hook into yarn lp, yo and pull lp through; ch 1, (2 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 3 tr) all in yarn lp, ch 3; join with a sl st in first sc. Leave tail of yarn lp hanging to tighten center of rose when done.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, inserting hook from behind the sts and into the yarn lp, sl st between 2 sc, ch 3, sl st between 2 hdc, ch 3, sl st between 2 dc ch 3, sl st between 2 tr, ch 3, sl st after 3rd tr, ch 3; join with a sl st in first ch-1 - 5 ch-3 lps.

Rnd 3: * (Ch 1, 5 dc, sl st) all in ch-3 lp; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first ch-1 - 5 petals.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, * holding petal toward you and inserting hook from behind the petal, sl st around ch-3 of Rnd 2 between 2nd and 3rd sts of petal, ch 3; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first ch-1 - 5 ch-3 lps.

Rnd 5: * (Ch 1, 7 dc, sl st) all in ch-3 lp; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first ch-1 - 5 petals. Fasten off.

Pull beginning yarn tail to tighten center of rose and secure with a back st. Weave in ends. Sew to poncho.
