Scarf measures approximately 6" wide x 50" long. Hat fits most women.
MODA DEA™ "Aerie", Art. R108 (1.75 ounce/68 yard ball): 4 Balls No. 9277 Coral for both scarf and hat.
Knitting Needles: 6.5mm [US 10.5] for scarf.
Double-Pointed Knitting Needles: 6mm [US 10] and 6.5mm [US 10.5] for hat.
Yarn needle; stitch marker.
GAUGES: 13 sts = 4"; 16 rows = 4" in checkerboard pattern with larger needles for scarf. 12 sts = 4"; 20 rnds = 4" in St st with larger needles for hat. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauges.
Hat Circumference: 20".
SCARF
Cast on 20 sts. Work in Checkerboard pattern as follows:
Row 1 (Right Side): K4, * P4, K4; rep from * once more.
Row 2: P4, * K4, P4; rep from * once more.
Row 3: Rep Row 1.
Row 4: Rep Row 2.
Rows 5 and 7: Rep Row 2.
Rows 6 and 8: Rep Row 1.
Rep Rows 1-8 until approximately 50" from beg. Bind off. Weave in ends.
HAT
Brim: With smaller double-pointed needles, cast on 60 sts, dividing sts evenly on 3 needles. Join for working in the rnd, and place marker to indicate the beg of the rnd. Work in ribbing as follows:
All Rnds: * K2, P2; rep from * around.
Rep the last rnd until 5" from beg. Change to larger double-pointed needles and St st (K all sts every rnd). Work even in St st for 4" - piece measures 10" from beg.
Shape Crown-Dec Rnd 1: * K2tog, K13; rep from * around - 55 sts.
Dec Rnd 2: * K2tog, K6; rep from * around - 49 sts.
Dec Rnd 3: * K2tog, K5; rep from * around - 42 sts.
Dec Rnd 4: * K2tog, K4; rep from * around - 35 sts.
Dec Rnd 5: * K2tog, K3; rep from * around - 28 sts.
Dec Rnd 6: * K2tog, K2; rep from * around - 21 sts.
Dec Rnd 7: * K2tog, K1; rep from * around - 14 sts.
Dec Rnd 8: * K2tog; rep from * around - 7 sts.
Cut yarn. Weave tail through rem sts twice. Draw up tightly, fasten securely. Weave in ends.
