Knitting Needles: 4 mm [US 6].
Double-pointed Knitting Needles: 4 mm [US 6].
4 Stitch holders; stitch marker; yarn needle.

GAUGE: 22 sts = 4"; 30 rows = 4" in St st (K 1 row; P 1 row). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

To Fit Chest: 23 (25, 28)". Finished Chest Measurement: 25 1/2 (28 1/4, 31 1/2)". Hat Circumference: 16 3/4".

SWEATER

BACK: ** Cast on 70 (78, 86) sts. K 5 rows. * [K 1 row. P 1 row] twice. K 6 rows. Rep from * once more – 25 rows completed. Work in St st, beg K row, until 8 (8 1/2, 9 1/2)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Raglans: Bind off 4 (5, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 62 (68, 76) sts. Next Row: K1, sl 1, K1, psso, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1 – 60 (66, 74) sts. P 1 row. **

Rep the last 2 rows 17 (20, 23) more times – 26 (26, 28) sts. Put sts on holder.

FRONT: Work same as back from ** to **.

Rep the last 2 rows 14 (17, 20) more times – 32 (32, 34) sts.

Divide for Neck: K1, sl 1, K1 psso, K8, put center 10 (10, 12) sts on a holder, with a 2nd ball of yarn K8, K2tog, K1 – 10 sts each side. Working both sides at once, continue to dec 1 st at each raglan edge every K row twice more AND AT THE SAME TIME bind off at each neck edge 3 sts twice and 2 sts once.

SLEEVES: Cast on 38 (42, 44) sts. Work first 25 rows same as for Back and then work in St st, beg K row, AND AT THE SAME TIME shape sides by inc 1 st each end of 6th row, then every 4th row 0 (4, 7) times, then every 6th row 9 (7, 6) times – 58 (66, 72) sts. Work even until 9 1/2 (10, 10 1/2)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Raglans: Bind off 4 (5, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 50 (56, 62) sts. Dec 1 st each end of next row same as for back. P 1 row. Rep the last 2 rows 17 (20, 23) more times – 14 sts. Put sts on holder.

FINISHING-Neckband: Sew raglan, sleeve, and side seams. With double-pointed needles and right side facing, K26 (26, 28) sts from back neck, 14 sts from left sleeve, pick up and K7 sts down left side of neck, K 10 (10, 12) sts from front neck, pick up and K7 sts up right side of neck, K14 sts from right sleeve – 78 (78, 82) sts. Join to work in the rnd and place marker to indicate beg of rnd. P 1 rnd. [K 1 rnd. P 1 rnd] twice. Bind off in K.

HAT

With double-pointed needles, cast on 92 sts divided on 3 needles. Work in St st, K every rnd, until 6 1/2" from beg. Next Rnd: * K2tog; rep from * across – 46 sts. K 5 rnds. Next Rnd: * K2tog; rep from * across – 23 sts. K 3 rnds. Next Rnd: K1, * K2tog; rep from * across – 12 sts. Cut yarn and draw tail through remaining sts twice. Draw up firmly; fasten securely. Make a 6 1/4" cord and sew to center of top of hat, with ends hanging down about 3 1/2" on one side, and 2 3/4" on the other. Make a pom pom about 2 1/4" across, and sew to center top of hat, on top of cord. Make 2 smaller pom poms about 1 1/2" across, and sew 1 to each end of cord. Allow lower edge of hat to roll up. Weave in ends.
