J. & P. COATS® Crochet Nylon, 100% nylon, Art. A70 (150 yard tubes).

Amount: 16" Plain Pillow: 4 Tubes No. 51 Light Green; 14" Fancy Pillow: 3 Tubes No. 51 Light Green.

Crochet Hook: U.S. Size H-8 [5mm].

14" or 16" Purchased pillow forms.

GAUGES: In sc rnds - 14 sts = 4"; 18 rnds = 4". Motif – 3 ¾" square. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauges given.

16" Plain Pillow

Ch 55. Rnd 1: 3 Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 52 ch; 3 sc in last ch; working on opposite side of ch in rem lps, sc in next 52 lps; do not join - 110 sc.

Rnd 2: Sc in next sc and in each sc around; do not join.

Rep Rnd 2 until 15 ½" from beg. Smooth out the cover to find the side edge and work sc to the side. Insert pillow form. Now sl st across top through both layers matching st for st. Fasten off.

14" Fancy Pillow

FRONT-Motif (Make 9)-Rnd 1: Ch 2; 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with a sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 2; holding back last lp on hook, 2 dc in same sc as joining, yo and through all 3 lps on hook- beg cl (cluster) made; [ch 3; holding back last lp on hook, 3 dc in next sc, yo and through all 4 lps on hook - cl made] 7 times; ch 1, dc in top of beg cl to join and form last lp - 8 cl.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 3 sc over dc, [5 sc in next ch-3 sp] 7 times, 2 sc over ch-1; join with a sl st to first sc.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same sc as joining, * ch 4, skip next 4 sc, sc in next sc, ch 8, skip next 4 sc **, sc in next sc; rep from * around, end at **; join to first sc.

Rnd 5: Ch 1, * 4 sc in ch-4 lp, (5 sc, ch 2, 5 sc) all in ch-8 lp; rep from * around; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew 9 motifs together as pictured.

Edging: Join thread in last sc before any corner.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, * 3 dc in corner sp, dc in each sc to next corner (do not work into sps or seams); rep from * around; join to top of ch-3 - 180 sts.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc around; join. Fasten off.

BACK: Make one motif same as for front EXCEPT do not fasten off at end of Rnd 5.

Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in next sc and in each sc to corner sp, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) all in corner sp, dc in each sc across; rep from * around; join to top of ch-3 - 18 sts between corner sps.

Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in next dc and each dc to corner, * (dc, ch 2, dc) all in corner sp, dc in each dc across; rep from * around; join - 20 sts between corner sps.

Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in next dc and each dc to corner, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) all in corner sp, dc in each dc across; rep from * around; join - 24 sts between corner sps.

Rnd 9: Rep Rnd 7 - 26 sts between corner sps.

Rnds 10, 11, 12, and 13: Rep Rnd 8 - 42 sts between corner sps at end of Rnd 13.

Rnd 14: Ch 3, dc in next dc and each dc to corner, * 3 dc in corner sp, dc in each dc across; rep from * around; join - 180 sts around. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

FINISHING: With wrong sides together and matching st for st, sc through both layers around front and back, inserting pillow form before closing last side; join. Fasten off.
