MATERIALS
Two Color Set
4 balls main color.
Small amount of contrast color.

One Color Set
4 balls.

One pair of Milward Disc Knitting Needles size 8 (4 mm).
One medium size Crochet Hook for Dress, Bonnet and Knickers.
3 Buttons and 1 yard Ribbon for each Dress.
½ yard Ribbon for each Bonnet.
½ yard Ribbon for Bootees.
Small length of Elastic for Knickers.

MEASUREMENT
To fit a Tiny Tears Doll.

TENSION
11 stitches to 2 inches (5 cms. approx.) measured over stocking stitch.

TWO COLOR SET DRESS

MAIN SECTION
Using size 8 needles and m.c., cast on 110 sts. and k.1 row. Commence pattern.
1st row: (Right side) K.
2nd row: P.
3rd row: * [P.2 tog.] twice, [m.1 (see abbreviations), k.1] 3 times, m.1, [p.2 tog.] twice, rep. from * to end.
4th row: P.
Change to c.c. and work rows 1 to 4.
Change to m.c. and work rows 1 to 4.
These 12 rows form the pattern.
Rep. these 12 pattern rows once more, then rows 1 to 4 inclusive once. Continue in m.c. only.
Next row: K.6, [k.2 tog.] 10 times, k.7, [k.2 tog.] 22 times, k.7, [k.2 tog.] 10 times, k.6. (68 sts.) †

Work 18 rows straight. Cast off.

Front
With right side of work facing, rejoin yarn to sts. left on spare needle. Cast on 3 sts., k. across these 3 sts., then k.34 sts. and turn, leaving remaining 17 sts. on a spare needle. Cast on 3 sts., p. across these 3 sts., p. to end. Cast on 2 sts. at the beg. of the next 2 rows. Cast on 10 sts. at the beg. of the next 2 rows. (64 sts.)
Work 10 rows straight.

Shape Neck
Next row: K.25 sts. and turn, leaving re­maining sts. on a spare needle.
Dec. 1 st. at neck edge on the next 3 rows. Work 4 rows straight. Cast off.
With right side of work facing, rejoin yarn to neck edge, cast off 14 sts., k. to end. Complete to match first side of neck.

Right Side of Back
With right side of work facing, rejoin yarn to remaining 17 sts. and complete to match Left Side of Back, reversing all shapings. †

BONNET
Using size 8 needles and m.c., cast on 44 sts. and k.1 row. Work the 12 pattern rows as given on Dress twice. (24 rows). Con­tinue in m.c. only.
Next row: K.2 tog., k. to last 2 sts., k.2 tog. (42 sts.)
Next row: P.

Shape Crown
1st row: * K.2 tog., k.5, rep. from * to end. (36 sts.)
2nd and every alternate row: P.
3rd row: * K.2 tog., k.4, rep. from * to end. (30 sts.)
5th row: * K.2 tog., k.3, rep. from * to end. (24 sts.)
7th row: * K.2 tog., k.2, rep. from * to end. (18 sts.)
9th row: * K.2 tog., k.1, rep. from * to end. (12 sts.)
11th row: * K.2 tog., rep. from * to end. (6 sts.) Break off yarn, thread through remaining sts., draw up and fasten off securely.

KNICKERS
Using size 8 needles and m.c., cast on 26 sts. Work 2 rows in k.1, p.1 rib.
Next row: Rib 2, * y.r.n., p.2 tog., rib 2, rep. from * to end. Work 1 row in k.1, p.1 rib. Change to st.st. (1 row k., 1 row p.) and work 1½ inches, ending with a p. row. Dec. 1 st. at each end of the next and every following alternate row until 20 sts. remain, then 1 st. at each end of every row until 6 sts. remain. Work 6 rows straight. Inc. 1 st. at each end of every row until there are 20 sts. on the needle, then 1 st. at each end of every alternate row until there are 26 sts. on the needle. Work 1½ inches in st.st., ending with a k. row. Work 1 row in k.1, p.1 rib.
Next row: Rib 2, * y.r.n., p.2 tog., rib 2, rep. from * to end. Work 2 rows in k.1, p.1 rib. Cast off in rib.

BOOTEES
Using size 8 needles and m.c., cast on 22 sts. Work 4 rows in k.1, p.1 rib.
Next row: (Eyelet Holes) K.2 tog., * k.1, y.f. k.2 tog., p.1, y.r.n., p.2 tog., rep. from * to last 2 sts., k.2 tog. (20 sts.)
Next row: P.
Next row: K.13, turn.
Next row: P.6, turn.
Work in st.st. (1 row k., 1 row p.) on these sts. for ¾ inch, ending with a p. row. Break off yarn. Rejoin yarn to inner edge of first set of sts. left on needle. Pick up and k.5 sts. along first side of instep, k. across the center 6 sts., pick up and k.5 sts. along second side of instep, then k. across the last set of 7 sts. (30 sts.)
Next row: P. across all sts., including the first set of 7 sts. Work 2 rows in st.st.

Using size 8 needles, cast on 43 sts. K.1 row. Work the 4 pattern rows as given on Dress 6 times in all. (24 rows.)

KNICKERS AND BOOTEES
Follow instructions for Two-Color Set.

TO MAKE UP
Press with a cool iron over a dry cloth, omitting ribbing.

Dress
Using a back stitch, join sleeve and shoulder seams. Join back seam to within 2 inches of neck. Work 2 rows of d.c. around armholes. Work 1 row of d.c. around neck and back opening. Work a 2nd row of d.c. around neck, missing every third space. Work3 button loops along one side of back opening. Sew on buttons to correspond. Thread ribbon through eyelet holes.

Bonnet
Using a flat stitch, join back seam for 1½ inches.
Work a row of d.c. around neck edge. Sew on ribbons.

Knickers
Using a back stitch, join side seams. Work a row of d.c. around leg edge. Thread elastic through eyelet holes at waist.

Bootees
Join seams. Thread ribbon through eyelet holes.
