Scarf measures approximately 6 1/2" wide x 55" long, not including fringe. Hat fits most women.

MODA DEA™ "Cheerio", Art. R112 (1.76 ounce/104 yard ball): 3 Balls No. 8001 Pearl for scarf; 3 balls No. 8001 Pearl for hat.

Crochet Hooks: 4mm [US G-6] and 5mm [US H-8].

Four stitch markers; yarn needle.

GAUGES: 4 shell clusters = 6 1/2"; 5 rows = 4" in pat for scarf with smaller hook. 16 sts = 4"; 18 rnds = 4" in sc for hat with smaller hook. CHECK YOUR GAUGES. Use any size hooks to obtain the gauges.

Hat Circumference: 20".

SCARF

With smaller hook, ch 26.

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 25 sc.

Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, skip first 3 sc; (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in next sc – shell made; * skip next 2 sc, dc in next sc **, skip next 2 sc, shell in next sc; rep from * across, end at **; turn.

Row 5: Ch 3, * shell in ch-2 sp of shell, skip next 3 dc of same shell **, dc in next dc; rep from * to last st, end at **; dc in top of ch-3; turn.

Rep Row 5 until piece measures 55" from beg.

Next Row: Ch 1, sc in first dc, * skip next dc, sc in next 2 dc, sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next 2 dc, skip next dc **, sc in next dc; rep from * to last st, end at **; sc in top of ch-3 – 25 sc.

Next 2 Rows: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Fringe: Cut fifty 10" strands of yarn. Knot 1 strand in each st at each end of scarf as follows: Fold a strand in half to form a loop, insert hook through fabric from wrong side and into loop, pull loop through fabric, draw yarn ends through the loop, pull ends to tighten, trim ends.

HAT

Brim: With larger hook, ch 80; join with a sl st to first ch, being sure ch is not twisted.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same ch as joining and in each ch around; join in the back lp of first sc; turn – 80 sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in back lp of each sc around; join in back lp of first sc; turn.

Rep Rnd 2 until piece measures 6" from beg; do not turn at end of last rnd. Change to smaller hook.

Crown-Next Rnd (Right Side): Ch 1, sc in both lps of each sc around; join; do not turn.

Rep the last rnd for 4".

Shape Top: Ch 1; [draw up a lp in next 2 sc, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook – dec made; sc in next 15 sts, dec, sc in next sc, place marker in last st] 4 times; join to first sc – 72 sts.

Next Rnd: Ch 1, [dec, sc in each sc to 2 sts before marked st, dec, sc in next sc] 4 times; join – 8 sts decreased.

Rep the last rnd until 16 sts rem. Work 1 rnd even. Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Weave through rem sts, draw up tightly, and fasten securely. Weave in ends. Fold brim in half to right side.
