MATERIALS

AUNT LYDIA’S® “Double Strand”, Art. 187 (300 yard balls) or J.&P. COATS® ROYALE™ “Gemini Double Strand”, Art 167 (300 yard balls): Top: 625 (750, 875, 1000) Yards No. 443 Victory Red/Mexicana. Scarf: 175 Yards No. 443 Victory Red/Mexicana.

Crochet Hook: 3.75mm [US F-5]. Yarn needle.

GAUGE: 22 sts = 4"; 10 rows = 4" in pat. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

To Fit Bust: 30-32 (34-36, 38-40, 42-44)".

Finished Bust: 36 (39 1/2, 43, 47)".

TOP

BACK: Ch 101 (111, 121, 131).

Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch; rep from * to last ch; dc in last ch; turn - 99 (109, 119, 129) sts.

Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next dc, * ch 1, dc in next dc; rep from * to last st; dc in top of ch-3; turn.

Rep Row 2 for pat until 12 (12, 13, 13)" from beg, end wrong side row.

Shape Armholes: ** Ch 1, sl st in first 2 dc, [sl st in sp, sl st in dc] twice, sl st in sp, ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 1, dc in next dc; rep from * to last 7 sts; dc in next sp; turn, leaving last 6 sts unworked. Next Row: Ch 3, skip first dc; yo and draw up a lp in next dc, yo and draw through 2 lps, skip next sp, yo and draw up a lp in next dc, yo and draw through 2 lps, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook - dec2 made; * ch 1, dc in next dc; rep from * to last 5 sts; ch 1, skip sp, dec2 over next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3; turn - 83 (93, 103, 113) sts. **

Rep last row 3 more times - 71 (81, 91, 101) sts. Work even until armhole measures 7 (71/2, 8, 81/2)", end wrong side row.

Divide for Back Neck: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next dc, [ch 1, dc in next dc] 3 (5, 7, 10) times, ch 1, dec2, dc in next sp; turn - 11 (15, 19, 25) sts. Next Row: Ch 3, skip first dc, dec2, [ch 1, dc in next dc] 3 (5, 7, 10) times, dc in top of ch-3; turn - 9 (13, 17, 23) sts. Work 1 row even. Fasten off.

Skip center 45 (47, 49, 47) sts, join thread in next sp; ch 3, dec2, work in pat to end; turn - 11 (15, 19, 25) sts. Dec2 at end of next row as before. Work 1 row even. Fasten off.

FRONT: Work same as back until armhole measures 5 (5 1/2, 6, 6 1/2)".

Divide for Front Neck: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next dc, [ch 1, dc in next dc] 5 (7, 9, 12) times, ch 1, dec2, dc in next sp; turn - 15 (19, 23, 29) sts. Dec2 at neck edge as before every row until 9 (13, 17, 23) sts rem. Work even until front measures same as back. Fasten off.

Skip center 37 (39, 41, 39) sts, join thread in next sp, ch 3, dec2, work in pat to end. Complete to correspond to first side.

SLEEVES: Ch 67 (73, 79, 85). Work in pat same as back and front over 65 (71, 77, 83) sts for 4 rows.

Shape Armholes: Work same as back from ** to ** - 49 (55, 61, 67) sts. Work 1 row even. Dec2 each end of every other row until 37 (43, 49, 55) sts rem. Work even until 4 1/2" above beg of armhole shaping. Dec2 each end of next 1 (2, 3, 4) rows - 33 (35, 37, 39) sts. Next 2 Rows: Ch 3, skip first dc, [dec2, ch 1, skip sp] twice, * dc in next dc, ch 1, skip sp; rep from * to last 8 sts; dec2, ch 1, skip sp, dec2, dc in top of ch-3; turn - 17 (19, 21, 23) sts at end of 2nd row. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder and side seams. Sew sleeve seams; set in sleeves.

Edging (Worked around neck, each sleeve and lower body): With right side facing, attach thread at a seam; ch 1, work 1 rnd sc around entire edge; join with a sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

SCARF

Ch 541. Work 5 rows in pat same as Top Back over 539 sts. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
