MODA DEA™ "Fur Sure™", Art. R130 (1.76 ounce/98 yard ball): 1 Ball No 3722 Totally Pink CB.
Knitting Needles: 5.5mm [US 9].
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
Stitch holder; yarn needle; 5 buttons; sewing needle and thread; 3" -wide cardboard.
GAUGE: 14 sts = 4"; 23 rows = 4" in St st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge.
To Fit Chest: 20 (22, 24)".
Finished Chest Measurement: 24 (26, 28 ½)".
SPECIAL ABBREVIATION:
M1 = Make one stitch by picking up the strand lying between stitches and working into the back of it.
BACK: With CA, cast on 42 (46, 50) sts. K 4 rows. Now work in St st, beg K row, until 6 ¾ (7 ½, 8)" from beg, end P row.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end of next 3 (3, 2) K rows - 30 (32, 36) sts. Work even until 4 ¾ (5, 5 ½)" above bind-off, end P row.
Shape Shoulders: Bind off 9 sts beg of next 2 rows. Put rem 14 (14, 18) sts on a holder.
LEFT FRONT: With CA, cast on 25 (27, 29) sts. K 4 rows.
Next Row (RS): Knit.
Next Row (WS): K5 for front border, P to end.
Rep last 2 rows until 6 ¾ (7 ½, 8)" from beg, end P row.
Shape Armhole: Keeping continuity of front border, bind off 3 (4, 5) sts beg of next row. Work 1 row. Dec 1 st at beg of next 3 (3, 2) K rows - 19 (20, 22) sts. Work even until 3 (3, 3 ¼)" above bind-off, end K row.
Shape Neck: Bind off 4 sts beg of next row. Work 1 row. Bind off 2 (3, 3) sts beg of next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 4 (4, 6) rows - 9 sts. Work even until same as back to shoulder, end WS row. Bind off.
RIGHT FRONT: Mark positions for 5 buttons along Left Front edge. Work same as Left Front, reversing placement of front border and armhole and neck shaping, working buttonholes on RS at markers as follows:
Buttonhole Row: K2, yo, K2tog. K to end.
SLEEVES: With CA, cast on 24 (26, 28) sts. K 4 rows. Now work in St st, beg K row, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 6th row until there are 32 (36, 40) sts. Work even until 6 (7, 8)" from beg, end P row.
Shape Cap: Bind off 4 (5, 5) sts beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every 3rd row 6 (5, 5) times. Dec 1 st each end of following 4th row 0 (1, 2) times. Bind off 12 (14, 16) sts loosely.
FINISHING: Sew shoulder, side, and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
Hood: With RS facing and CA, beg at right front neck edge after border, pick up and K15 (16, 18) sts to shoulder, K14 (14, 18) sts across back holder, pick up and K15 (16, 18) sts to left border - 44 (46, 54) sts. Inc Row: P4 (5, 5), M1, [P4 (4, 9), M1] 9 (9, 5) times, P4 (5, 4) - 54 (56, 60) sts. Work even until 6 ½ (7, 7 ½)" from beg.
Shape Top: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows - 10 (12, 16) sts. Dec 1 st each end of every row until 2 sts rem. Bind off.
Sew top seam. Lay flat with back of hood facing and fold tip of hood down approximately 2"and tack in place.
Pompom: With CB, wrap 50 times around cardboard. Remove wraps carefully and tie firmly at the center. With crochet hook and a double strand of CB make a 2" chain. Tie ends around the center of the wraps. Cut wraps and trim to form pompom. Use rem ends to fasten to hood.
Hood Edging-Row 1: With RS facing and crochet hook, attach CB at right front edge of hood; ch 1, work sc evenly across front edge of hood; turn. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn. Rep Row 2 for 2". Fasten off. Tie: With CB, make a chain approximately 40" long; sl st in each ch across. Fasten off. Place tie at center of hood edging, fold edging in half to the WS over the tie and sew in place, taking care not to catch tie in the seam.
Sleeve Edging-Rnd 1: With RS facing and crochet hook, attach CB at sleeve seam; ch 1, sc evenly around; join with a sl st to first sc. Rnds 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
