TLC® "Baby Amore™'': 1 Ball No. 9001 White for Set.
Knitting Needles: 4.5mm [US 7] and 4mm [US 6].
2 Stitch holders; 4 stitch markers; yarn needle; 5 buttons; sewing needle and thread.
GAUGE: 16 sts = 4"; 24 rows = 4" with larger needles in Seed st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE: Use any size needles to obtain gauge.
CARDIGAN
BODY (Worked in one piece to armholes):
With smaller needles, cast on 99 sts.
Row 1 (WS): K1, * P1, K1; rep from * across.
Rep Row 1 for Seed st twice more.
Next Row (RS): K1, P1; K2tog, yo - buttonhole made; K1, * P1, K1; rep from * across. Rep Row 1 twice more. Change to larger needles.
Next Row (WS): [K1 , P1] 3 times, P to last 6 sts, [P1, K1] 3 times. Work in pat as follows:
Rows 1 and 3: [K1, P1] twice, K1, K1B, K1, P1, K1, * K1B, P2, K1B **, [K1, P1] 3 times, K1; rep from * to last 9 sts, end at **; K1, P1, K1, K1B, [K1, P1) twice, K1.
Rows 2 and 4: [K1, P1) 5 times, * K2, [P1, K1) 4 times, P1; rep from * to last st, K1.
Row 5: [K1, P1] twice, K1, K1B, K1, P1, K1; * yo, K1B, P2, K1B, pass the yo over the last 4 sts and off the right needle - mock cable made; **, [K1, P1] 3 times, K1 ; rep from * to last 9 sts, end at **; K1, P1, K1, K1B, [K1, P1] twice, K1.
Row 6: Rep Row 2.
Rep Rows 1-6 for pat until 7" from beg, end Row 4 AND AT THE SAME TIME work buttonhole every 2 ¼" on Right Front as before.
Divide for Armholes: Keeping continuity of pat, work 27 sts and put on holder for Right Front; work 45 sts and put on holder for Back; work rem 27 sts.
Left Front: Work even in pat until 3" above divi¬sion, end RS row. Shape Neck-Next Row: Work first 10 sts and put on a holder, work rem 17 sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 6 rows, then at same edge every other row 3 times - 8 sts. Work even until 5 ¼" above division. Bind off.
Back: Work in pat across 45 sts on Back holder until Back measures same as Left Front. Bind off.
Right Front: Work in pat across 27 sts on Right Front holder and complete to correspond to Left Front, reversing shaping and working buttonholes every 2 ¼" as before.
SLEEVES: With smaller needles, cast on 21 sts. Work in Seed st same as for Body for 8 rows, inc 1 St at center of last row - 22 sts. Change to larger needles.
Rows 1 and 3 (RS): [K1, P1] 4 times, K1, K1B, P2, K1B, [K1, P1] 4 times, K1.
Rows 2 and 4: [K1, P1] 5 times, K2, [P1, K1] 5 times.
Row 5: [K1, P1] 4 times, K1, work mock cable, [K1, P1] 4 times, K1.
Row 6: Rep Row 2.
Rep Rows 1-6 for pat, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 3rd row 9 times working added sts into Seed st - 42 sts. Work even until 7" from beg. Bind off.
FINISHING-Neckband: Sew shoulder seams. With RS facing and smaller needles, K10 from Right Front holder, pick up and K11 sts to shoulder, 29 sts across Back, 11 sts down Left Front, K10 from left front holder - 71 sts. Work 8 rows in Seed st, working buttonhole in 3rd row at Right Front. Bind off in pat. Sew sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. Sew on buttons.
HAT
With smaller needles, cast on 56 sts. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 3" inc 1 st at center of last row - 57 sts. Change to larger needles and K one row.
Rows 1 and 3 (RS): K1, * K1B, P2, K1B, [K1, P1] 3 times, K1; rep from * to last st: P1.
Rows 2 and 4: * [P1, K1] 4 times, P1, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts; P1, K1.
Row 5: K1, * work mock cable (see Cardigan Row 5), [K1, P1] 3 times, K1; rep from * to last st; P1.
Row 6: Rep Row 2.
Rep Rows 1-6 until 6" from beg, end WS row.
Shape Crown-Row 1: [K2tog, K10, K2togtbl, place marker) 4 times, K1 - 49 sts.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: [K2tog, K to 2 sts before marker, K2togtbl] 4 times, K1 - 41 sts.
Rep Rows 2 and 3 until 9 sts rem. Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Weave yarn end through rem sts, pull up tightly, fasten securely. Sew back seam, reversing for brim.
