TLC® ''Heathers™'': 5 Skeins 2444 Light Sage.
Circular Knitting Needle: 6mm [US 10] - 36". Cable needle, 2 stitch markers, yarn needle.

GAUGE: 18 sts = 5"; 25 rows = 5" in pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION:
ssk (slip, slip, knit) = Slip next 2 sts knitwise, one at a time, to right needle; insert point of left needle into the fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together from this position.

Cast on 155 sts. Do not join but work back and forth in rows.

Bottom Border-Row 1 (Right Side): K1, * P1, K1; rep from * across.

Rows 2-5: Rep Row 1.

Row 6: K1, [P1, K1] twice, place marker on needle, work to last 5 sts; place marker on needle, K1, [P1, K1] twice. Continue to work first and last 5 sts of every row in Border pattern and beg working Cable pattern on sts between markers as follows:

Row 1: * K4, yo, ssk, P7, K2tog, yo, K3; rep from * to last st; K1.

Row 2: * P6, K7, P5; rep from * to last st; P1.

Row 3: * K3, [yo, ssk] twice, P5, [K2tog, yo] twice, K2; rep from * to last st, K1.

Row 4: * P7, K5, P6; rep from * to last st; P1.

Rep Rows 1-48 four more times, then rep Rows 1-38 once more. Remove stitch markers on last row.

Top Border: Work 6 rows same as for Bottom Border. Bind off loosely in pattern.

The way the pattern is written, to me, it looks like you would NOT do the P4 and only do the P9. But just to be sure, you can always contact Coats & Clark who is the copyright holder of this pattern. Someone there would be happy to help with any of your pattern questions!
