MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Nantuk Sweater & Afghan Yarn (2 oz pull skein): 6 (6-7) skeins
Needle: One "Boye" crochet hook Size J
Gauge: 3 pats to 2 inches
PATTERN STITCH: Ch number of sts indicated.
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 sc in next ch, repeat from * across, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 1 sc in first sc, * ch 1, 1 sc in next sc, repeat from * across, ch 1, turn. Repeat Row 2 for pat.
To Dec At Beg of Row: Skip first sc, 1 sc in next sc, ch 1, continue in pat.
To Dec At End of Row: Work to last 2 sc, ch 1, draw up a loop in each of the next 2 sc, yo and through all 3 loops on hook, ch 1, turn.
Back: Ch 60 (64-68) loosely. Work in pat on the 30 (32-34) pats for 6 inches. Dec 1 pat each side on next row. Work on the 28 (30-32) pats to 12 inches from start. Dec 1 pat each side on next row. Work on the 26 (28-30) pats to 17 inches or 10 inches less than desired finished length from hemline to underarm. Width across back is 17¼ (18¾-20) inches.
Armholes: Dec 1 pat each side every row 3 times. Work on the 20 (22-24) pats to 5½ (6-6½) inches above underarm. Width across shoulders is 13¼ (14¾-16) inches.
Neck: Work 7 (8-8) pats, ch 1, turn. Dec 1 pat at neck every row twice. Work on rem'ing 5 (6-6) pats to 7 (7½-8) inches straight above underarm. Fasten off.
Skipping center 6 (6-8) pats on last long row, join yarn in next space, 1 sc in next sc, work in pat to end. Finish to correspond to other side.
Skirt: Join yarn in first st on starting chain.
Row 1: Inc'ing to 38 (38-42) pats, work in pat across, ch 6, turn.
Row 2: 1 dc in 4th st of ch-6 drawing loops up to 1 inch and, holding back last loop of each st work 2 dc in first sc, [skip next sc, holding back last loop of each dc work 2 dc in next sc] twice, yo and through all 7 loops on hook for a triple cluster, * ch 1 to fasten, ch 3, 1 dc in fastening-ch, 1 dc in same sc as last dc of cluster, ch 3, 1 dc in top of last dc. For triple cluster: holding back last loop of each dc, work 2 dc in same st as last dc, [skip 1 sc, holding back last loop, work 2 dc in next sc] twice, yo and through all 7 loops on hook, repeat from * across, end ch 1 to fasten, ch 3, 1 dc in fastening-ch, 1 dc in last sc, ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Holding back last loop, work 2 dc in fastening-ch of triple cluster, yo and through all 3 loops for single group, ch 3, 1 single group in same fastening-ch, * 1 dc in single dc; in fastening-ch of next cluster work [1 single group, ch 3] twice then 1 more single group *, repeat from * to * across, end 1 dc in turning-ch, ch 3, turn.
Row 4: Holding back last loop work 1 dc in first dc and 2 dc in center group of next flower, yo and through all 4 loops, ch 3, 1 dc in center of same flower, ch 3, 1 dc in top of last dc, * holding back last loop work 2 dc in center of same flower, 2 dc in next single dc, 2 dc in center group of next flower, yo and through all 7 loops for a triple cluster, ch 1 to fasten, ch 3, 1 dc in fastening-ch, 1 dc in same space as last group, ch 3, 1 dc in top of last dc *, repeat from * to * across, end 2 dc group in same space as single dc, 2 dc group in turning-ch, ch 3, turn.
Row 5: 1 dc in base of turning-ch, ch 3, 2 dc group in same st, repeat from * to * of Row 3 across, end 1 dc in single dc, 2 dc group, ch 3 and 2 dc group in turning-ch, ch 4, turn.
Row 6: 1 dc in base of turning-ch, holding back last loop work 2 dc in same st, 2 dc in single dc, 2 dc in center group of next flower, yo and through all 7 loops, ch 1 to fasten, ch 3, 1 dc in fastening-ch, 1 dc in same space as last group, ch 3, 1 dc in top of last dc, repeat from * to * of Row 4 across, end triple group, ch 1 to fasten, ch 3, 1 dc in fastening-ch, 1 dc in turning-ch, ch 3, turn. Repeat Rows 3 through 6 once more or to desired length, end with Row 4 or 6. Fasten off.
Front: Same as back.
Sew shoulder and side seams. On right side join yarn in first st at underarm seam, crochet 1 row of sc around armholes, * work 1 sc, ch 5, 1 sl st in 3rd st of ch-5 for a picot, repeat from * around, join. Work same edging around neck.
