Crochet Pattern Square No. 41, Volume 64

Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G hook or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

Multiple of 2 ch sts

With A, ch 40 for lower edge.

Row 1–right side–Insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo and draw up a loop, then drawing up each loop to same height as first loop, draw up a loop in each of next 3 ch, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 for "eye" of star–1 star st made, * drawing up each loop to same height as first loop, draw up a loop in eye of star st just made, draw up 1 loop only in front and back loops of last loop on same star st, draw up a loop in each of next 2 ch, yo and through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 for eye; repeat from * 16 times, 1 dc in last ch; 18 star sts, plus 1 dc.

Note–Draw up all loops of star st to same height as first loop.

Row 2–Ch 3, turn, draw up a loop in 2nd ch from hook and a loop in next ch, draw up a loop in dc and a loop in next st–eye of star, yo and through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1, * draw up a loop in eye of star st just made, draw up 1 loop only in front and back loops of last loop on same star, draw up a loop in next st, draw up a loop in next st–eye of star, yo and through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1; repeat from * 16 times, 1 dc in last st.

Repeat row 2 until 17 rows–about 8 ins. from beg. Fasten off.
