Crochet Pattern Square No. 17, Volume 64

Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

Multiple of 12 ch sts

With A, ch 32 for lower edge.

Row 1–right side–Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each re¬maining ch; 31 sc. Mark 4th, 16th and 28th sc.

Row 2–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each sc.

Note–Work dc around post of st as follows:–Yo hook, insert hook from front to back in space before designated st, then from back to front on other side of same st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and through 2 loops, yo and through 2 loops.

Row 3–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 3 sc, * work 1 dc around post of marked st in 2nd row below, skip next sc, 1 sc in each of next 11 sc *; repeat between *'s across, end last repeat 1 sc in each of last 3 instead of 11 sc.

Row 4–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st; 31 sc.

Row 5–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of first 2 sc, * work 1 dc around post of dc in 2nd row below, skip next sc, 1 sc in next sc, work 1 dc around post of same dc in 2nd row below, skip next sc, 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, mark last sc made, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc *; repeat between *'s across, end last repeat 1 sc in each of last 2 sc.

Row 6–Repeat row 4.

Row 7–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of 9 sc, repeat between *'s of row 3 across, end last repeat 1 sc in each of 9 instead of 11 sc.

Row 8–Repeat row 4.

Row 9–Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each of 4 sc, mark last sc made, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, repeat between *'s of row 5 across, end last repeat 1 sc in each of 3 sc after marked sc.

Row 10–Repeat row 4.

Repeat rows 3 through 10 until there are 38 rows–about 8 ins. from beg., omit marking sts on row 37. Fasten off.
