Make squares of Bucilla "Wool and Shetland Wool," 2 oz balls;
or Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Winsom, 2 oz skeins;
or equivalent

Use Crochet Hook, Size G or size required to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Each Square approximately 8 ins. square

Multiple of 8 ch sts

With B, ch 42 for lower edge.

Row 1–right side–Work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 4 ch, * ch 4, skip next 4 ch, 1 dc in each of next 4 ch; repeat from * 3 times more, 1 dc in each of last 2 ch.

Row 2–Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, * ch 4, skip next ch 4, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; repeat from * 3 times more, 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in top of turning ch.

Row 3–Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, * ch 2, insert hook under both ch-4 loops and work 1 sc, ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; repeat from * 3 times more, 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in top of turning ch.

Row 4–Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, * ch 4, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; repeat from * 3 times more, 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in top of turning ch.

Row 5–Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, * ch 4, skip next 4 dc, working in 2 top loops of ch, work 1 dc in each of next 4 ch; repeat from * 3 times more, ch 4, skip next 4 dc, 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in top of turning ch.

Row 6–Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, * ch 4, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; repeat from * 3 times more, ch 4, 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in turning ch.

Row 7–Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, * ch 2, work 1 sc under both ch-4 loops as before, ch 2, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc; repeat from * 3 times more, ch 2, 1 sc under next 2 ch-4 loops, ch 2, 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in turning ch.

Row 8–Repeat row 6.

Row 9–Ch 3, turn, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, working in 2 top loops of ch as before, work 1 dc in each of next 4 ch, * ch 4, skip 4 dc, 1 dc in each of next 4 ch; repeat from * 3 times more, 1 dc in next dc, 1 dc in top of turning ch.

Repeat rows 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8–about 8 ins. from beg. Fasten off.
