MATERIALS: COLORS:
4 Black
1 ea.: Blossom, Carib, Lilac, Off White, Spring

Crochet Hook: Plastic hook size "P" for shawl.
Aluminum Hook size "I" for flowers and leaves.

GAUGE: 4 st = 2"

The entire shawl is worked using 2 threads of yarn together. Only the flowers and leaves are worked in single thread.

Pattern is made by working a sc in each dc, and a dc in each sc. At end of each row when last st is dc, ch 1 to turn, when last st is sc, ch 2 to turn.

SHAWL:

Chain 4 st using 2 threads in black.

Row 1: In second chain from hook sc, dc in next ch, sc in last ch, ch 2 turn.

Row 2: DC in previous sc, sc in dc, dc in sc, ch 1 turn.

Working in pattern of these 2 rows increase 1 st at beginning and end of each row for 3 rows (9 stitches). Now increase 2 st at beginning and end of each row, 19 times ending with 85 stitches. Fasten and break thread. (To increase 2 st at beginning of row, increase 1 st in each of first 2 st. To increase 2 st at end of row, increase 1 st in next to last st and last st.)

BORDER:

Always working on right side:

Row 1: Using 2 threads of color blossom work 1 row of dc in each stitch along the 2 short sides working 3 dc in corner stitch of point.

Row 2: Using 2 threads of black, 1 sc in each dc of previous blossom row and 3 sc in cluster stitch of point.

Row 3: Using 2 threads of color carib repeat row 1.

Row 4: Same as row 2.

Row 5: Same as row 1.

Row 6: Same as row 2.

Row 7: Using 2 strands of black starting at long end and working on right side of shawl, dc in each stitch around working 3 dc in center st of point and in first and last st of long side.

Row 8: Using 2 strands of black, sc in every dc working 3 sc in each corns st.

FRINGE:

Using black yarn: wind yarn around 7" cardboard 7 times and cut. Do not cut loops. Fold and knot 7 threads in every other stitch along both short sides.

FLOWERS:
Using "I" crochet hook and single yarn:

Make 3 carib, 3 blossom and 1 lilac large size flowers.
Make 3 blossom, 1 carib, 2 lilac, 6 white small size flowers.
Make 14 green leaves.

LARGE FLOWER:
Crochet hook size "I".

Ch 4, join to make ring, ch 1.

Row 1: 11 sc in ring (12 st) join.

Row 2: Ch 4, sc in every third st. (Making 4 loops.) Join with sl stitch.

Row 3: sl st into first loop and all in same loop * (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc, ch 1) repeat from * into three other loops and join. (4 petals made.)

Row 4: Ch 5, sc, in chain between petals. Repeat in 3 other petals (4 loops made), join.

Row 5: Slip into first loop. Work, (sc, 2 hdc, 5 dc, 2 hdc, sc, ch 1) into each of 4 loops, join.

Row 6: In joining st, sc, *(hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc, ch 5) sc into next ch 1 between petal, repeat from * 3 times more, join.

Row 7: Slip into ch 5 loop (sc, 2 hdc, 5 dc, 2 hdc, sc, ch 2) into each ch 5 loop, slip to join. Fasten and break thread.

SMALL FLOWER:

Ch 4, join to make ring, ch 1.

Row 1: 11 sc in circle (12 st).

Row 2: Ch 4, sc in every third sc. Make 4 petals as in large flower.

Row 3: Join, ch 2, sc in space between petals, slip to join, slip into loop.

Row 4: In each ch 2 loop make 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, ch 1, slip to join after last loop. Fasten and break thread.

GREEN LEAF (14 leaves):

Chain 13. sl st into second ch from hook.

Work in chain: 2 sc, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 2 hdc, sc, sl st, turn, sl st in second st, sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, sc, slip st, sl st, break thread. END OF LEAVES.
