Materials: Clark's O. N. T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet Size 3 White or Ecru, 4 balls.
Milward's steel crochet hook size 6 or 7.
And a few skeins of J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Six Strand Floss in bright colors.

To begin, ch 95. 1st rnd: 1 d c in 5th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 st of foundation ch, 1 d c in next st, and repeat from * to end of ch, ch 1. On opposite side of foundation ch work 1 d c in d c, * ch 1, 1 d c in next d c, and repeat from * to end of ch.

Do not join rnds. 2nd rnd to 19th rnds incl: * Ch 1, 1 d c in next d c of previous rnd, and repeat from * to end of rnd. 20th rnd: Ch 3 (to count as 1 tr), * skip ch-1, 1 tr in next d c, and repeat from * to end of rnd. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made. 21st rnd: 1 s c in each tr of previous rnd. 22nd to 27th rnds: 1 s c in each s c of previous rnd. 28th rnd: Ch 4 (to count as 1 d tr) * skip 1 s c, 1 d tr in next s c, ch 1, and repeat from * to end of rnd. Join with sl st to 4th st of ch-4 first made. 29th rnd: * 1 s c in ch-1 space, 1 s c in next d tr, and repeat from * to end of rnd. 30th to 33rd rnds incl: 1 s c in each s c of previous rnd.

HANDLE. Ch 9, and join in a ring. 1st rnd: 1 s c in each st. Do not join rnds, work as spiral. 2nd and subsequent rnds: 1 s c in each s c of previous rnd till work measures 20 inches long. Pull handle through both ends of the 28th rnd of d tr's, and join the two ends of the handle. This will form a double handle.

SLIDES. Make 2 pieces to hold handle in place by working the same way as the handle, only making each piece 2½ inches long. Sew these pieces around handle to form slides, and slip one slide down each end of the handle.

Place a lining in bag and make a few flowers on one side of the bag, using Six Strand Embroidery Floss in bright colors, each flower to consist of four loop petals with a French knot in the center.
