Bag measures 16" wide x 21" tall, including strap.

MODA DEA™ "Ticker Tape™": 5 Balls No. 9507 Festival.

Crochet Hook: 6.5mm [US K-10.5].

12" all purpose zipper, yarn needle, sewing needle and thread.

GAUGE: 13 sc = 4"; 14 rows = 4" in sc. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION:

sc2tog = draw up a lp in each of next 2 sts, yarn over and draw yarn through all 3 lps on hook - one st decreased.

BAG (Front and Back Alike): Starting at bottom, ch 27.

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch. [2 sc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch] 8 times; turn 34 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc; turn - 36 sc.

Rows 4-13: Rep Rows 2 and 3 five more times - 46 sc.

Rows 14-16: Rep Row 2.

Row 17: Rep Row 3 - 48 sc.

Rep Rows 14-17 twice more - 52 sc.

Work even in sc until 10" from beginning, end by working a wrong side row.

Shape Top-Left Side-Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first 18 sc, sl st in next sc; turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, skip sl st and next sc, sl st in next sc, sc across; turn - 16 sc.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc to last sc; sl st in last sc; turn -15 sc.

Rows 4-7: Rep Rows 2 and 3 twice more - 9 sc at end of Row 7.

Rows 8-10: Ch 1, sc in each sc across; turn. Fasten off.

Right Side-Row 1: With right side facing, skip center 14 sc. attach yarn with sl st in next sc, sc in each sc to end; turn - 18 sc. Work same as left side reversing shaping.

FINISHING: Sew front and back together along bottom and sides.

Strap-Row 1: With right side facing, attach yarn in first sc of last row of 2 pieces sewn tog; ch 1, work 18 sc across this edge; turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc2tog, sc across to last 3 sc; sc2tog, sc in last sc; turn - 16 sc.

Rows 3-5: Rep Row 2 -10 sc.

Work even until strap measures 18" from first row, end by working a right side row.

Inc Row: Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc across to last 2 sc; 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc; turn - 12 sc.

Rep Inc Row 3 more times -18 sc. Work 1 row even. Fasten off, leaving a long end for sewing.

Sew free end of Strap to last row of rem shaped side. Fold strap in half to wrong side and sew seam.

Top Opening: Sew front and back together for 2" from first row of strap on each side of top opening, leaving on opening for zipper.

Zipper Edge Rnd: With right side facing, attach yarn at seam at top opening; ch 1, sc evenly around opening; sl st in first sc. Fasten off. Pin, then sew zipper into opening.

Fringe Band (Optional): Ch 54.

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in back lp of first sc, * ch 1, skip next sc, sc in bock lp on next sc; rep from * across. Fasten off.

Fringe: Cut 12" lengths of yarn. Holding 2 strands together, fold in half forming a lp. Insert hook in ch-1 sp and then into lp; draw lp through sp then draw yarn ends through the lp and tighten. Rep across band. Sew band to front of bag 1 ½" down from top opening.
