Afghan measures approximately 47" x 62".

RED HEART® "Giant Pounder™": 6 Ounces each No. 2082 Aran CA and No. 2121 Cardinal Red CB, 14 ounces No. 2122 Claret CC, and 30 ounces No. 2086 Navy CD.

Crochet Hook: 9mm [US M-13]. Yarn needle.

GAUGE: Square measures 7 ½" across. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

NOTE: Squares and Edging are worked with 2 strands held together as one.

SQUARE (Make 48): With 2 strands of CA, ch 4; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1 (Right Side): Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, [3 dc in ring, ch 2] 3 times; join with a sl st in top of ch-3. Fasten off.

Row 2: With right side facing, attach 1 strand each CB and CC in any ch-2 sp; ch 3, 2 dc in sp; (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in next ch-2 sp - corner made; 3 dc in next ch-2 sp; TURN.

Row 3: Ch 4; 3 dc in sp between next two 3-dc groups - group made; work corner, work group, ch 1, skip next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3. Fasten off.

Row 4: With right side facing, attach one strand each CC and CD in last dc made; ch 3, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, work group, work corner, work group, 2 dc in ch-4 sp, dc in 3rd ch of ch-4; TURN.

Row 5: Ch 4, [work group] twice, work corner, [work group] twice, ch 1, skip next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3. Fasten off.

Row 6: With right side facing, attach 2 strands of CD in last dc made; ch 3, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, [work group] twice, work corner, [work group] twice, 2 dc in ch-4 sp, dc in 3rd ch of ch-4; turn.

Row 7: Ch 4, [work group] 3 times, work corner, [work group] 3 times, ch 1, skip next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Sew squares together as pictured with Rnd 1 at the lower left of each square: 6 squares wide x 8 squares long.

Edging-Row 1 (Worked down left side and across lower edge ONLY): With right side facing, attach 2 strands each of CD over ch-4 at upper left corner; ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, work 4 groups in sps along side of same square, [work 5 groups along side of next square] 6 times, work 4 groups along side of last square, work corner in last ch-2 sp; work across short side of afghan in same manner EXCEPT work 2 dc in last ch-4 sp, dc in 3rd ch of ch-4 instead of corner in last sp; TURN.

Row 2: Ch 4, * work group; rep from * to next corner **; work corner; rep from * to ** once; ch 1, dc in top of ch-3; TURN.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, work 1 rnd sc evenly around all 4 sides; join with a sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
