Afghan measures approximately 54 1/2” x 65”.

TLC Essentials, Art. E514, 100% acrylic, (6 ounce Solids/4.5 ounce Multi-Color skeins).

Amount: 5 Ounces each of 11 colors: No. 2313 Aran CA, No. 2913 Ranch Red CB, No. 2915 Cranberry CC, No. 2531 Light Plum CD, No. 2533 Dark Plum CE, No. 2883 Country Blue CF, No. 2672 Light Thyme CG, No. 2673 Medium Thyme CH, No. 2675 Dark Thyme CI, No. 2220 Butter CJ, No. 2335 Taupe CK.

Crochet Hook: U.S. Size 1-9 [5 ½ mm].

GAUGE: 8 rnds = 10 ½” across in pat. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given.

NOTE: AFTER THE FIRST SQUARE, ALL OTHERS ARE JOINED WHILE WORKING RND 8.

BASIC SQUARE: Ch 5; join with a sl st to form a ring. Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, [3 dc in ring, ch 2] 3 times; join with a sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: Join next color in any ch-2 sp; ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in sp, ch 1; * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in ch-2 sp corner made; ch 1; rep from * around; join to top of ch3. Fasten off.

Rnd 3: Join next color in any ch-2 sp; ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all in sp. * ch 1,3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1 **, work corner in next ch-2 sp; rep from * around, end at **; join. Fasten off.

Rnds 4-8 (See Note above): Join next color in any ch2 sp; ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2,3 dc) all in sp, ch 1, * 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * to next corner **; work corner in next ch-2 sp, ch 1; rep from * around, end at **; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

To Join on One Side-Rnd 8: Join next color in any ch-2 sp; ch 3,2 dc in sp; ch 1, holding wrong sides together, sc in corner sp of completed square, ch 1; 3 dc in same sp, sc in next ch-1 sp of completed square, * 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next ch-1 sp of completed square; rep from * to next corner; 3 dc in ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in corner sp of completed square, ch 1, 3 dc in same ch-2 sp, ch 1; complete rnd as for First square.

Join subsequent squares in the same manner as above, joining 1 or 2 sides as required; join to corner of previously joined squares by working sc in sc of previous joining.

Work 30 Basic Squares, 5 each in the following 6 color sequences, joining while working Rnd 8 and following the diagram for placement:

SQUARE 1: CB, CI, CH, CG, CA, CF, CD, CC.
SQUARE 2: CA, CD, CH, CG, CK, CF, CB, CJ.
SQUARE 3: CG, CA, CK, CE, CJ, CB, CH, CI.
SQUARE 4: CE, CC, CK, CA, CJ, CI, CF, CG.
SQUARE 5: CJ, CB, CC, CE, CD, CA, CI, CK.
SQUARE 6: CI, CH, CA, CD, CF, CC, CB, CE.

Edging-Rnd 1: With right side facing, join CH in any ch-2 sp and work as for Rnd 4 around entire afghan. Rnd 2: With CE, rep Rnd 4. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
