With size 9 needles cast on 48 sts.

Rows 1, 3 and 5-wrong side- * K 2, p 4, k 2, p 2; repeat from *, end last repeat k 2.

Row 2-* P 2, sl next 2 sts to hook, hold at front, k next 2 sts, k 2 sts from hook-a cable twist-p 2, with yarn at back, insert needle as to p through first st on left hand needle, k 2nd st from front, then k first st inserting needle in back of st-a twist rib-repeat from *, end last repeat p 2.

Row 4-P 2, k 4, p 2, * twist next 2 sts, p 2, k 4, p 2, repeat from * to end.

Row 6-Same as row 4.

Repeat these 6 rows for pat. until 50 rows-about 8 ins., from beg., end on right side with pat. row 2. Bind off in pat.
