Hairpin Lace Circular Rug Pattern

About 30" in diameter

You Need:
Color A (White): 5 skeins
Color B (8lack): 5 skeins
Needles: One "Boye" or "Diana" crochet hook Size J and one 4-inch adjustable hairpin lace loom.

Work with double strand of yarn throughout. The 2 loops from the double strand on each side of the loom are counted as 1 loop. Follow the directions that come with the loom for making hairpin lace strips.

CENTER
With A - work 27 loops on each side of the loom. Fasten off, leaving an end. With B - * tightly work 1 sc through 3 loops, repeat from * around. Sl st in first sc and fasten off. Leave opposite edge free. Knot center spine of the A strip.

2ND STRIP: With B, work 54 loops on each side of the loom. Joining: Insert hook through loop of an A st, * draw 2 loops of B through A, draw 1 loop of A through B loops on hook, repeat from * around. Catch the last loop to the spine and tie ends of spine tog.

3RD STRIP: With A - make 72 loops on each side of loom. * Join 2 loops of A to 1 loop of B, 2 loops of A to 2 loops of B, repeat from * around. Finish as 2nd strip.

4TH STRIP: With B - make 96 loops on each side of loom. * Join 2 loops of B to 1 loop of A, 2 loops of 8 to 2 loops of A, repeat from * around. Finish as 2nd strip.

5TH STRIP: With A - Make 128 loops on each side of loom. Join as 3rd strip.

EDGING
With B - * keeping twist in loops, 1 sc through 2 loops of A, ch 2, repeat from * around. Join and fasten off.

FRINGE
Cut rem'ing yarn in 18" strands. Fold 5 strands of each color in half and draw loop through a ch-2, draw ends through loop and tighten. Repeat around, spacing as desired.
